Mr Humphrey Bellweather

Mr Humphrey Bellweather teaches local history, though most of his lessons eventually return to Henry VIII. He considers this entirely reasonable, as he believes the Tudor period explains nearly everything, including modern politics, village disputes, and the price of biscuits.

He dresses accordingly.

With his velvet hat, fur-trimmed coat, and fondness for dramatic pauses, he cuts a striking figure in the classroom and at parish meetings. Pupils have learned that asking an innocent question about the Victorians may result in a forty-minute monologue on royal marriages.

Mr Bellweather is deeply earnest, mildly theatrical, and firmly convinced that, in a previous life, he was a misunderstood court adviser.
